SEEKING TIER 4 HOCKEY SECONDARY SCHOOL TOURNAMENT NAMES

Following the restructure of the Secondary School tournaments for 2021 and beyond, Hockey New Zealand has created 10 new Tier 4 Secondary School Tournaments. These tournaments will split around the country in the three natural areas. The 10 new tournaments are as follows:

    • Upper North Island – 2x Tier 4 Boys & 2x Tier 4 Girls
    • Lower North Island – 2x Tier 4 Boys (Tier 4 Girls already exists)
    • South Island – 2x Tier 4 Boys & 2x Tier 4 Girls

Currently none of these tournaments have official names, so we want to name these Tournaments after an individual, past or present, who has had a positive impact on Secondary School Hockey within the respective areas.

We are reaching out to our community to put forward candidates that fulfil the following criteria to have a tournament named after them:

    • Demonstrate the five Hockey New Zealand values; Hockey Whānau, Enjoyment, Integrity, Excellence, Inclusive.
    • Be involved in any area of Secondary School sport hockey, including but not limited to coaching, officiating and administrating
    • Has been involved for more than 10 years and/or contributed significantly to hockey within their respective communities.

To nominate an individual, please click the corresponding tournament options below:

A local panel including Hockey New Zealand staff, local Associations and other parties involved in the Secondary School space will help determine the official names of the new tournaments.

Nominations will close Friday 26 February, 2021.

Players who are removed due to already having trophies named after them are; Ramesh Patel, Kate Trolove, Mary Clinton, Audrey Timblin, Rosemary O’Brien, Jenny McDonald, Chris Arthur.
